Most repair shops are in the south, and their process is the same everywhere: drive there, hand it over, wait a week, drive back. For a lot of people up here that's two round trips and no idea what's happening in between. Eislektronic works the other way round.
Repair before replace — and I've got the receipts.
Before starting Eislektronic, I spent ten months volunteering with Digital Inclusion Luxembourg, refurbishing over 100 devices that other people had already given up on and putting them back into working hands.
That's the whole idea behind this business. A machine that gets fixed is money you keep and one less device in a landfill. So the first question here is always whether the thing in front of us can be repaired — not what you should buy next. If replacement genuinely is the better call, you'll be told that plainly, with the reasons.
What usually comes up.
It takes forever to start
Often a failing hard drive, not a dead computer. An SSD upgrade and a clean install typically brings an old laptop back to usable speed for a fraction of a replacement — and can be done during the visit.
Screens, keyboards, batteries
Cracked displays, dead keys, batteries that no longer hold charge, broken hinges and charging ports — replaced individually rather than replacing the whole laptop.
No power, no boot, blue screens
Diagnosis of power faults, boot failures, and crash loops — finding which component actually failed instead of guessing.
Overheating and loud fans
Cleaning, repasting, and fan replacement. One of the most common reasons a machine gets thrown away, and one of the easiest to fix.
Data recovery & backups
Recovering files from failing drives where possible, and setting up backups so it doesn't become a crisis next time.
Viruses & malware
Full clean-up of infected systems, plus protection set up properly so the same problem doesn't return.
